For over forty years Unichem has been manufacturing and distributing high quality specialty chemicals, as well as designing custom-engineered liquid feed systems to the Midwest’s textile care industries.

Throughout this time Unichem has been considered an innovator in offering the latest in products, performance, value and technology to its customers. In keeping with this leadership perspective, and our awareness of today’s growing need and demand for environmentally safe products, we’re proud to announce we have re-designed our entire product line. We have replaced all of our surfactants that have nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPE’s) resulting in far more earth-friendly formulas. The bottom line, products that are safer for the environment and the people handling them.

Virtually every industry will be affected by these changes; from the healthcare industry where a patient’s fragile immune system can be further compromised by toxic chemicals, to the hotel / motel industry—where, as an example, major cities such as New York, Chicago and Los Angeles are pushing local hotels to take environmentally sustainable steps to gain a competitive advantage in attracting conventions.

Why this recent surge in interest? Because as a recent study by SCA Tissues reveals, 88% of respondents choose to purchase green products because they care for the environment. And this is indicative of the movement that’s happening throughout our entire country.

Because of our a strong environmental conscience, Unichem decided not to wait for the EPA’s recommended phaseout of these toxic chemicals and made a commitment to act now…years ahead of their recommended phaseout.

Our objectives:

• Detergents that are completely free of NPE’s
• Cleaning performance that had to be equal or better than previous standards
• No increase in cost to the end user
• No increase to the wash process, ie. no increased water, energy, or time
• One-for-one direct replacement usage
